Mattagami Aki
Mattagami Aki Limited Partnership (LP) is a 100% Mattagami First Nation-owned business that operates with a foundation built on the traditional Seven Grandfather Teachings: Respect, Love, Truth, Bravery, Wisdom, Honesty, and Humility. These teachings guide our workplace philosophy, fostering a culture of transparency, sustainability, and community prosperity.
“By participating in the mining industry, we’re able to generate revenues that are reinvested into the community, supporting everything from mental health and wellness to traditional cultural activities.”
Devin Naveau, CFO
Established in 2018 as a special purpose vehicle (SPV), Mattagami Aki LP represents Our Nation’s interests in business and contracting opportunities. Our flagship project is the Côté Gold Project, developed in partnership with Flying Post First Nation and IamGold through an Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA). Through strategic collaborations, including our majority-owned partnerships Aki Caron and Aki Moreau, we have delivered significant contributions to the project, such as tree clearing, earthworks, and mill construction.
Mattagami Aki LP also partners with a diverse network of companies such as Tisdale Bus Lines, NanJV, Valard, Waggs Petroleum, Suncor, Petro-Canada Lubricants, SGS Canada, and Advanced Security, among others. These partnerships, grounded in open-book agreements, have created training, employment, and subcontracting opportunities for our community.
Our commitment to community building is at the heart of our success. By participating in mining and other industries, we empower community members through skill development and job creation while aligning our operations with Mattagami First Nation values.
Looking to the future, Mattagami Aki LP continues to grow its portfolio of agreements and ventures, ensuring long-term benefits for Mattagami First Nation and creating a legacy of prosperity, sustainability, and opportunity.
“The Seven Grandfather Teachings are deeply ingrained in our workplace philosophy,” explained Tim Harvey. “We’ve adapted them slightly to fit a corporate office setting, and we rely on them to set the right tone and atmosphere in our business. They truly reflect our community’s values and culture.”
Tim Harvey, CEO
